Leon Thomas III (born October 4 1937) is an American singer and actor. He is the son of jazz singer Leon Thomas Jr. and father of singer-songwriter Nikka Costa. He is also the father of actress India Eisley.
Thomas began his career as a child actor appearing on Broadway in the original production of The Wiz in 1975. He went on to pursue a career in music releasing a series of successful albums in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to his own work Thomas has collaborated with a number of other artists including Pharoah Sanders John Lee Hooker and Carlos Santana.
